Inghiottitoio - P.la Arena
Simple but pleasant trekking that allows you to observe the karst forms of the rocky environments of the Piano Battaglia mountain area.
Along the way, you will enjoy, the "Inghiottitoio", a small cave in the south-eastern part of the "Battaglietta" depression. The surrounding landscape is born with karst, a phenomenon in which meteoric water does not flow downstream to the surface but through tunnels and underground caves. The path continues towards Rifugio Marini, where you can admire the sedimentary deposit of organic nature still intact, of Jurassic corals. Passing through a thick forest, you will arrive to a breathtaking view: the evocative amphitheater of Quacella with its isolated spiers formed by dolomites almost similar to a Gothic cathedral carved into the rock. The walk is a unique experience where you can wonder about the geological evolution of the whole area, today belonging to the International Geoparks network.

Pizzo Carbonara
The path is mostly uphill. Starting from the shelter you will arrive to a vast depression called "polje della battaglietta". After a few bends, you enter a beech forest, where you can find the remains of an ancient rural building. The route continues until you reach the top of the "Vallone Zottafonda" where you can admire a beautiful landscape. From here, through beech forrests and grinders you will arrive at the base of a steep slope that once climbed will take you to the second difficultest peak of Sicily: Pizzo Carbonara (1979 m a.s.l.).

Mufara Mountain
The path that leads to Mount Mufara (located at 1,865 m above sea level), is rich in natural beauties. Starting from the top of the mountain and crossing a magnificent beech forest, you will reach Piano Battaglia. From this point and during all the trail, you will enjoy a wonderful view.

Piano Cervi
This is a classic path of the Madonie Park: from Portella Colla through the Cervi plateau leads to the wonderful Woodland of Marrabilice. This path is characterized by maples, european holly, beeches, common hawthorns, european wild pears and much more. "Piano dei Cervi" (plan of deers) owes its name to the ancient presence of deers. Today they are extinct, but they have been replaced by follow-deers.
Along the way, you will see closely a beautiful hay barn used in ancient times by shepherds as a shelter, and still used today by hikers.
