RoccaSalvatesta

The “Rocca Salvatesta” (also called Rocca di Novara) is a peak in the Peloritani mountains, between the territories of Novara di Sicilia and Fondachelli-Fantina.
This hike starts at 905 Metres above sea level, and it develops uphill within a lush deciduous pine and chestnut forest, until reaching a rocky environment. The ascent is quite easy. Just at the end of the climb, you will find a rocky steep ascent that leads to the peak of “Rocca Salvatesta”. The latter has an elevation of 1,340 meters above sea level. This popular mountain resembles a Dolomites peak, and for this reason it is also called “Cervino di Sicilia”.
The mountain stands out solemnly, and is always visible, for this reason in the past it represented a kind of beacon for sailors. A summit cross with a figure of Jesus lies at its top from where you can enjoy of a gorgeous view all around the Aeolian Islands, the Strait of Messina, Tyndaris, Milazzo, mount Etna, Mount Scuderi, the lakes of Marinello and Alcantara Valley.
