MontalbanoEliconaMontalbano Elicona is a little town in the Nebrodi mountains, on the border with the Peloritani range. This ancient village with medieval structure in 2015 won the qualification of "Borgo più bello d’Italia" (Italy's most beautiful homestead). It was developed within the walls around the Swabian-Aragonese fort and the Main Church

MontalbanoElicona23The depopulation and the creation of the new neighborhoods allowed to preserve the historic centre almost intact to this day. Montalbano is mainly known for its Swabian-Aragonese castle built in 1233 by the Emperor Frederick II, and its Cathedral, now promoted to Minor Basilica.
Along the charming alleys, you can come across some lovely medieval churches and old aristocratic houses with valuable antique carved portals. From “Portello Belvedere” panoramic viewpoint, you can enjoy the wonderful panorama of the Tyrrhenian coast, from Cape Milazzo to Aeolian Islands .
Upon specific request, you can have lunch tasting of typical local produce of Montalbano; and you can visit a cheese-manufactory where you will be able to assist in the production of provola and ricotta typical cheeses.
You can combine this guided tour with a visit to Argiumusco Megaliths, and/or excursion
to the Bosco di Malabotta (Malabotta forrest).
