Wonderful excursion in the territory of Tripi, a small and characteristic municipality of the province of Messina. In ancient times called “Abakainon” or “Abacena”, Tripi is an important town from the historical, archaeological and naturalistic point of view. This trail starts with a guided tour of the Hellenistic and Roman Necropolis and continues with the visit of the Santi Archaeological Museum of Tripi. It develops with a suggestive historical-naturalistic excursion, among oak woods and rocky palm groves, which leads to Pizzo Bruita. From Bruita Peak (634 m a.s.l.) you will enjoy a splendid view of Tindari, the Laghetti di Marinello, the Aeolian Islands, Milazzo, the Rocca Salvatesta and mount Etna. The path vegetation is composed by oaks, chestnut trees, hazelnuts, almond trees, olive trees, walnut trees and shrubs such as brooms, heather and mastic. The hike will also includes the visit to the famous cave of San Cono and to numerous ancient palm groves that were formerly used for the pressing of the grapes.
